A new series of ogdoad compositions made with solar cell units. Continuing the exploration with the geometry of eight, Interstellar works are circuits that are directly activated by natural daylight.Energy has been a long standing subject matter of Mirza’s work. These five new compositions expand further on the theme of power. By placing a meteorite fragment at the center of the composition, Mirza evokes the outer limits of our conscious world, charging it with power through the use of a copper coil. Placed around the exhibition space, the charged meteorites create an imperceptible magnetic field. Each Ogdoad composition comprises a different nickel and iron rich meteorite crystal cataloged with a number. They are estimated to be 4-6000 years old originating from Campo del Cielo in Argentina.
